San Angelo has become known for it's "Art in Uncommon Places."  Anywhere you go you will find sculptures made of stone, bronze and steel. There are mosaics on volkswagens and there are historical murals painted on the sides of buildings.

ALLEY'S... In Paintbrush alley, located between the 100 block of W. Twohig Ave. and W. Concho St., there are nostalgic and whimsical looks at life painted along the alley a virtual drive-through art gallery that includes 18 windows and numerous murals. Art Opens Doors Alley Way, 215 S. Oakes, 17 artists each painted a door that hangs in the alley with a portrait of benefactor Eva Tucker painted on a balcony overlooking the alley.

There are paintings on trash cans, doors and even on sheep.  There is a lot of art in traditional places too.  The San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts, The Angelo State University Art Gallery as well as the many Art Galleries in and around the Downtown Area which can be experienced through the Art Walk, held every 3rd Thursday of the month. And then there is The Best Little Old Art Center In West Texas "The Old Chicken Farm Art Center" where you will find artisans of all media.   Throughout the year the Chicken Farm hosts the "1st Saturday" event each month with a featured artist, great acoustic music with the Chicken Pickers, blacksmiths, free clay for kids (all ages), and demonstrations.

SO IF IT'S ART YOU WANT.. ART IS WHAT YOU GET IN SAN ANGELO!
