Celebrating Chinese New Year is a tradition at the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts. Families can participate in hands-on art activities, which include shadow puppets, creating a good luck dragon, a gold fish kite and visitors will even be able to share a special New Year's wish. Visitors will also get to try some basic Tai Chi techniques demonstrated by local Tai Chi master, Steve Haidinger and others from Tai Chi Concho. Cycris Ho will be on hand demonstrating calligraphy and students from Goodfellow Air Force Base will be teaching some basic Chinese. This year's guest artist include pianist Dr. Michelle Schumann, hailed as "irresistible, smart and utterly captivating..." by the Austin American Statesman, and Ukrainian born vilinist Iryna Krechkovsky, who has been featured as soloist and chamber muscian throughout the united States, Canada, and Europe. Guest Artist Recital: "Finger Painting" - Rising Star Iryna Krechkovsky will dazzle San Angelo audiences with performances of tremendous virtuosity and singing poetry. Collaborating on the piano with her will be SAPF Artistic Director Michael Schneider, a hometown favorite. One of the incredibly exciting elements of this program is the Texas premiere of "Finger Painting" - a new work for violin and piano by 17-year old composer, Molly Joyce, from Pittsburgh.
