Goodfellow Friendship Golf Tournament
2011 Friendship Golf Tournament at Quicksand Golf Course. This annual event, co-hosted by the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce, raises funds to support Project Warmheart and other Goodfellow Air Force Base-wide programs to support the troops and their families during deployments and emergencies. Celebrating Chinese New Year is a tradition at the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts. Families can participate in hands-on art activities, which include shadow puppets, creating a good luck dragon, a gold fish kite and visitors will even be able to share a special New Year's wish. Visitors will also get to try some basic Tai Chi techniques demonstrated by local Tai Chi master, Steve Haidinger and others from Tai Chi Concho. Cycris Ho will be on hand demonstrating calligraphy and students from Goodfellow Air Force Base will be teaching some basic Chinese. National Museum Day
Highlighting the contributions of the nation's cultural institutions, Fort Concho National Historic Landmark will mark National Museum Day with free admission, a Vintage Base Ball match (9:00am) and Cavalry programs (10:00). In addition to Fort Concho. The San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts, the San Angelo Nature Center, and the Railway Museum of San Angelo will also celebrate. State Park - 15th Anniversary
The State Park will celebrate our 15th anniversary on September 25th. Entry fees will be waived for the day. There will be 15 things you can do at the park throughout the day. Activities include music, tours of bison & longhorn, kite flying, bike rides and many other activities. Featured bands performing include: Talley Services, Reverence, & Bryce and the Bad Decisions. The park has added an extensive trail system for hikers, bikers and equestrians. The lates addition to the park is the amphitheatre. Most activites will go from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Friends of San Angelo State Park will provide free hot dogs for lunch. FMI: 325-949-8935
