The Kendall Art Gallery will feature the art work of Fort Concho Elementary School, Kindergarten through 5th grades. The art projects were completed during art classes and in classrooms with their teachers and during after-school enrichment classes with art instructors. A wide variety of media and content will be displayed. The exhibit will open with a reception, March 21st (during art walk) at 119 West 1st Street and the public is invited to attend. Light refreshments will be served and there will be a special Art Walk 5-year Anniversary drawing for those who attend. The show runs through April 13th. Angelo State University hosts this annual symposium on contemporary ceramic arts. Panelists for the 2012 symposium will include Susan Toomey Frost, Michael Shapiro, Claudia Reese and Keith Kreeger. Howard Taylor, Director of the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts, will serve as Panel Moderataor. Acting as Symposium Coordinator is Esteban Apodaca, Professor of Art in ceramics at Angelo State University. San Jose Tiles from the Collection of Susan Toomey Frost...The San Jose tile workshops of San Antonio produced beautiful art tiles for decades. This exhibit will showcase examples from a particularly fine collection. April 18, 1 - 6pm: Randy Brodnax will lead participants in a workshop of raku and alternative firing techniques at the Old Chicken Farm Art Center, 2505 N. Martin Luther King Blvd. Participants are encouraged to bring bisque work to glaze and fire. Cost $25 (call SAMFA to register: 325-653-3333). Featuring multiple Rodeo/Agrarian based events for children ages 2-14. Some of the highlighted events include: Mutton Bustin', Stick Horse Races, Boot Scramble, Dummy Steer Roping, Tractor Pull and Petting Zoos. 23rd Annual Healthy Families San Angelo Children's Fair
At College Hills Park next to Unidad Park at the corner of College Hills Boulevard and Vista del Arroyo. The Children's Fair has become a tradition in the Concho Valley for families and children to have an outing in the park and enjoy a myriad of food, games, and activity booths which benefit children's causes. Everything is geared to the child in all of us. All booths are run by organizations benefiting children.
